The UN NCD Task Force convened its 23rd meeting on October 30–31, 2024, in a important session co-moderated by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Over 20 organizations participated in the discussions, during which several strategic actions were proposed to guide global efforts on NCDs and mental health in preparation for the 2025 high-level meeting.
Key actions include positioning Task Force members at the forefront of preparations for the fourth NCD high-level meeting, organizing a global campaign in 2025 to mark the 20th anniversary of the entering into force of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC), raising awareness and increasing investment to unlock the potential of digital health in saving millions of lives from NCDs, and leveraging national investment cases to demonstrate the financial incentivesof scaling up country responses to NCDs and mental health.
Additionally, the Task Force will incorporate recommendations from its recent joint independent evaluation to continue strengthening UN coordination and impact in addressing NCDs and mental health.
A full report of the discussions and actions from the 23rd meeting will be published shortly on the Task Force website.
