The United Nations Inter-Agency Task Force on the Prevention and Control of NCDs has the pleasure to inform you about a « Friends of the Task Force » side event organized on the occasion of the high-level week of the United Nations General Assembly. The side event will be co-chaired by the Russian Federation and the World Health Organization and held on 24 September 2020 at 10:00 EST, by video conference.
This year’s session, titled “UN Inter-Agency Task Force on the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases: working with Member States to deliver the NCD-related Sustainable Development Goal targets during and beyond COVID-19”, will review the current work of the Task Force and agree on the ways to provide more effective UN system support to enable countries scale up their responses to NCDs during and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.
Objectives:
1. To continue the collective journey of the 'Friends of the Task Force'
2. To highlight emerging evidence on the ways that COVID-19 and NCDs are interacting
3. To present new Task Force led partnerships and initiatives
4. To present the UN Multi-Partner Trust Fund on NCDs and mental health
5. To present the 2020 Task Force Awards
In addition, the UN Multi-Partner Trust Fund on NCDs and Mental Health will be presented, and 2020 Task Force Awards winners will be announced.
