High-level side event co-hosted by Kenya and Scotland during the 2024 World Health Assembly

Catalyzing country action on non-communicable diseases and mental health through the United Nations Health4Life Fund

On 28 May 2024, in the margins of the 77th World Health Assembly, the Government of Kenya and the Scottish Government hosted a breakfast meeting to provide an update on progress on the Health4Life Fund and to explore the opportunities it presents as a vehicle for scaling up country investments in NCDs and mental health. Link for news story could be found here.

With the Fourth High-level meeting on NCDs just over a year away, the catalytic Health4Life Fund provides an impetus for collective action that places Global South countries at the forefront of decision-making and prioritizes their needs. There will be two panel discussions. The first will provide the opportunity for the Fund’s strategic partners to discuss why this Fund is doing things differently and how it can get countries closer to the SDGs through effective partnerships. In the second panel, the meeting will hear from countries that are in the process of developing proposals for funding from the Health4Life Fund. The meeting will also hear from civil society partners that are championing the Health4Life Fund.

The concept note for the meeting along with the Health4Life Fund 2023 annual report, and a case study on the Fund published by NCD Alliance are provided below.
